DIY Cardboard Gift Boxes (no template needed!)

Cardboard boxes hang on a wall with numbered baubles and beautifully ribbon wrapped around them.

Introduction

This is such a cute project to make! I created these easy little DIY Cardboard Gift Boxes for an Advent Calendar project. They turned out great, and were quite straightforward to make, with simple supplies.

I spent a lot of time and thought researching a method that was simple and quick, and that didn’t involve printing templates (score)!

For this project, I used an A4 piece of card, and the width of a ruler to determine the box dimensions. You can tailor the size of the box depending on the size paper you use. And the height of the box can be varied, depending on what size ruler you use. Have a play around until you find one that suits.

I used:

  • A4 Card

  • A ruler

  • Double-sided tape

  • A craft knife

  • Scissors

The video below is the best way to learn how to make these adorable DIY Cardboard Gift Boxes:

I’ve also included some step-by-step instructions below, for easy referral:

These are steps one - three of making cardboard boxes.
These are steps four - six of making cardboard boxes.
These are steps seven - nine of making cardboard boxes.
These are steps ten - eleven of making cardboard boxes.

Conclusion

I hope you enjoy making this project!

I’m sure you will find lots of uses for these DIY Cardboard Gift Boxes throughout the year (as well as Christmas).

Whether it’s for storage or gifts, isn’t it rewarding to make something from scratch?
