What supplies will I need to buy?
You’ll need to buy all of your own supplies for each project. I’ll give you guidance on the best supplies to get your hands on, as well as great discounts in the Clever Poppy Shop (if that is where you choose to buy your supplies).

What if I have questions and need help along the way?
There's a lot of support that happens in the private Facebook group. And I also have online Q&A sessions. As a member of the Maker's Academy you can always just message me for help.

How much time does it take?
This will depend on your pace and whether you sit down to craft in longer sessions or short bite-sized chunks. But overall the beginners course will take you about 6-8 hours total (from starting to finishing your first pattern). Each pattern after that will depend on how advanced it is - some take as little as a few hours, some are more complex.
So plan to set aside a couple of hours each week for the beginners course. And I think it will help if you give yourself a couple of uninterrupted (ha!) hours for your very first session as you learn the ropes.

Do I have to be from New Zealand to join the Maker's Academy?
No, you can join us from anywhere in the world. My guides are general - in the sense that anyone worldwide can use them. In terms of the supplies, I’ll explain generally what supplies are needed, so that you can source these in your own country if you want.
We also ship worldwide from our shop so you can be confident of getting the right supplies wherever you are.

Can I give someone a membership as a gift?
You sure can! I can’t think of a better gift to give! In future we will have gift vouchers available, but for now please just enter the recipient's details at the checkout when you purchase the membership.

What if I want to cancel?
You can cancel at any time, and your membership will terminate on your next rollover date (i.e. the date that your next payment was due). So if you're on the monthly membership and choose to cancel, your membership will end 30 days from your last payment.

Do I have to be on Facebook to join?
Nope! All of the Maker's Academy courses are available online through our website. And we always email any important messages directly to our members.
We do however recommend you join our private member's only Facebook group, because it's such a wonderful way to keep you motivated and supported! Plus I host Q&A's in the Facebook Group.
So if Facebook is not your thing (I get it), that's totally cool, we will make sure you don't miss out on any key info. But we encourage you to join the group if you can.

What if I don't have time to complete a project each month?
That is totally fine! The Maker's Academy is set up so that you can pick and choose how fast or slow you want to go through the courses and patterns.
The online materials will be available to you for as long as you're a member, so you don't need to rush or worry they'll disappear.

Can I still see the course after I've left the membership?
Once you leave the membership, you will no longer have access to the online platform which houses all of the courses, patterns and technique guides, including the video tutorials. But you are welcome to download the pdf guides before your membership ends, to keep on your desktop for future use.
